Prevent Age Spots Before They Appear!

With age comes beauty. However, many people are convinced that aging detracts from their looks, in part, because of age spots. Known as ‘lipofuscin,’ or liver spots, these yellowish brown spots that develop on the skin are just an unavoidable part of the aging process. – But are they really unavoidable?

You don’t have to accept that your skin will eventually be plagued with age spots. There are ways to prevent them from developing. With proper care and the right products, you can keep your skin looking young and fresh for years to come.

Nix the Iron

Well, don’t nix it completely because iron is an important part of hemoglobin, or the stuff in red blood cells that transport oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body; however, too much iron can lead to the appearance of age spots.

If your iron levels are high, excess iron can cause extra pigmentation in the skin, or age spots. Many foods are fortified with iron, including grains and processed foods. Minimize these foods in your diet and avoid taking multivitamins that contain iron to prevent the development of lipofuscin.

Keep Your Hormones in Check

Estrogen is an important hormone in the female body, but too much estrogen can cause several problems, including higher levels of age pigment.

Estrogen is necessary around the time a woman ovulates; however, only a small amount is necessary. Beyond ovulation, estrogen really isn’t necessary and having too much of it in your body can speed up the development of age spots.

To keep your estrogen levels in check, avoid foods and products that raise the levels of this hormone in your body, like grapefruit, soy, plastics and cosmetics that contain ‘fragrance.’

Use the Right Skincare Products

There are several products on the market that can help to reduce the appearance of age spots.

Sepiwhite Face Whitening Cream, for example, is an exceptional product for combating the development of aging pigment. Because this product is formulated specifically for skin that is rich in melanin and contains the patented Sepiwhite MSH and Alpha Arbutin, two elements that work to correct dark spots when combined, it is ideal for preventing the onset of skin darkening age

spots.

Avoid Unsaturated Fats

Unsaturated fats, especially PUFA – Polyunsaturated fats – can be very damaging to the body. When they combine with iron, these fats can increase the appearance of age spots.

To avoid the development of those dark spots on your skin, as well as other damaging effects, avoid consuming unsaturated fats completely. Instead, choose saturated fats, like olive oil and coconut oil.

Say Goodbye to Free Radicals

Free radicals are a major cause of age spots. Unsaturated fats are a major cause of the formation of free radicals in the body (another reason not to consume them).

Limiting the amount of unsaturated fats you consume to lower the formation of free radicals in your body. Additionally, try supplementing with an antioxidant, like Vitamin E, which can keep free radicals in the body in check. Vitamin E can also help maintain proper hormone balance! (Added bonus!)

By exercising these tips, you can reduce the formation of those unsightly brown age spots and retain your vibrant, youthful complexion.
